TASbrenda was diagnosed with moderate to severe sleep apnea in October of 2003, after she fell asleep at the wheel of her car on the way to work one morning, destroying 2 utility poles. She was unhurt, and grateful no one else was hurt, since this happened in a school zone. Hypopneas are her primary problem, and she is 100% compliant on Bi-level PAP.TASbrenda freely discusses sleep apnea with those around her, and as a result, one person has been diagnosed, and is also 100% compliant with her treatment. She has the support of a wonderful husband and one grown son.
TASsleepy was diagnosed with Idiopathic Hypersomnolence in 1989 and was treated with medications until 1994. In July 2000, it was suggested during a consultation for another problem that she might have sleep apnea. A PSG in August 2000 showed that in addition to Sleep Apnea she also had RLS. She is 100% compliant on BiPAP at pressures of 15/5. Her RLS is currently treated with iron supplements to increase the serum ferritin levels.

TASpat is a sleep apnea patient, diagnosed in August, 2001. She has been on CPAP since September 1, 2001, and is 100% compliant (after a rather rocky - but determined - start). Her initial complaints of tiredness went back to the mid80's but it wasn't until she read an article on sleep apnea in a magazine she picked up at the supermarket that she figured out what was wrong and was able to help her doctor diagnose her. She is very grateful for cpap and how it has restored her life. She was also diagnosed with fibromyalgia in 1988 and learned first hand about trigger point injections and nerve blocks, neither of which she personally recommends. Pat is the mother of a grown son and is a grandmother!
