Before contacting us for chat technical assistance, please make sure you have addressed the known chat technical issues listed below. If you are still having trouble, then feel free to submit the chat technical assistance request below.
Login Issues - If you entered a chat nickname and received the message "Name in Use", please try another nickname. Leaving the nickname box blank will assign you a "guest" name. After typing a nickname, select a chat option and click "Connect".
Globalchat / ActiveX Issues - If you choose the Globalchat Plugin, your browser settings must allow ActiveX controls to be downloaded and run. For computer security we suggest being prompted for ActiveX controls. In MSIE click Tools, Internet Options, Security tab and set these options to your preference. If this does not resolve the issue, try downloading the plugins - Internet Explorer (msichat_install.exe - 1.38 MB) or Netscape (nsichat_install.exe - 1.32 MB)Firewall Issues - Users using firewall software should allow IP 206.233.6521 port 4080 OR choose the "HTML" client. Users behind a corporate firewall should contact their LAN Administrator.
AOL / MSN Issues - Some Internet Service Providers (AOL, MSN, and some others) provide a customized version of Microsoft Internet Explorer (MSIE). Customized browsers are not compatible with the chat server software. Minimize the ISP's browser and use the version of MSIE which came installed with your Windows software.WebTV Issues - WebTV does not support Java, the technology the chat software uses. Choose the HTML Chat Client.
