I have been away from the forum for a while because my head has just been too cloudy to to read or write about my situation. My appointment for a sleep study isn't until the middle of September and that is just for the consultation. I had been really intrigued by those of you who said medicines like adderall or provigil had helped you become more alert during the day and as a result improved your sleep quality too and also the other solution of taking xyrem for better sleep quality and feeling more alert during the day.
I've been trying to get dr's to prescribe me some of these medicines, the doctor that gives me ambien said no to the ADD meds, he said even if I have ADD they will only make my insomnia worse, he would only give me more ambien, which I need if I want to get some sleep before a big day. Another doctor also would not give me Adderall or Provigil, he also suggested sleeping pills but would only give me Lunesta, it took me longer to fall asleep with lunesta than it takes with OTC meds and the next day it was hard to get up and I was really loopy all day, I kept doing things backwards like turning the shower heads the wrong way and almost burning myself and having trouble locking and unlocking my door because I was doing it in the wrong direction, all those things we normally do and don't think about, I was afraid to even try to drive. I told the doctor that I would not take those again, he had me back in and gave me a questioner and said that I met the criteria for ADD but not ADHD and prescribed Strattera (I looked at a questioner online for adderall and I met all the criteria). I have not tried stattera yet, I've been reading about it and it's an antidepressant, I was given an antidressesent years ago that was supposed to help me sleep and it would take me too long to go into how bad they made me feel. I'm afraid to try the strattera, the side effects read the same as the other antidepressant that I was on. I would be interested in hearing from anyone one was on any of these medications. I'm especially interested in if there are people out there that can take something like adderall on an as needed basis, like if you had to take on something that required more alertness and focus do you just take it for that? I would like that freedom, the way I am with ambien, I take ambien when I want to get to sleep and get up early, not every night.
Another question that I have is about buying prescriptions online, I have never done this before but I thought that I read somewhere on this forum that it is not illegal, if that is the case I would like to hear from anyone who has gotten their meds this way and their experiences. When I google these meds I see ad's for buying them without a persciption and want to know if it's safe. I'm getting so impatient waiting for dr's appointments and trying to get dr's to listen. I want to see if any of these medicines will make me feel better. If there is a reputable company that I could go through I would be interested in hearing about it. Thanks to all the people who have given me advice before, I hope I find something that works and can be helpful to others for a change. |

It is illegal to purchase controlled prescription drugs without a prescription. TAS and federal law highly recommends staying away from any sites which allows you to purchase these drugs without a prescription.
Purchasing presecription medication, without a prescription, from any source and having it shipped to you would be illegal.
Furthermore, TAS insists that individuals refrain from posting contact information to businesses which are operating illegally.
Finally, TAS does not allow links to online pharmacies from its website.
Foobear, I do hope that you can find treatment for your sleep disorders. However, I highly recommend that you go through legal means. I hope that others will have good suggestions for you. |

Foobear,
I don't know if you saw my reply to your message on the other forum, but my advice still applies. I definitely recommend a second opinion with a board certified sleep specialist and and sleep study. Check out the links in my message at the following link.

my dr. has prescribed provigil and I take as needed, to counter the sleepy effects of an antidepressant. It is for general alertness and I like it alot. It is specifically for sleep disorders. May need new doc.
good luck! |
