Narcolepsy Support Group forming in San Antonio, TX

Hi all,

I'll soon be working with Narcolepsy Network to form a support group in the San Antonio area.

If you're interested in attending the first meeting (which will be primarily organizational), please come forward!

I'm trying to find a spot that is bus accessible since I know some PWN do not drive. First meeting date will probably be some time between May 14-30.

Great news!

I got approval from my Neurologist that we can hold meetings in his office. The other practice that he shares space with does not work on Thursday afternoons, so that gives us the entire very large waiting area to set up for a meeting.

Now all I have to do is get the necessary info from Narcolepsy Network and get it scheduled! Chances are we will meet on a Thursday afternoon from 5:00-6:00 pm in the Stone Oak Area, near North Central Baptist Hospital.

Please let me know if you are interested in attending the organizational meeting for this group. (Or if you have an idea for a name!)

We are open to all residents of San Antonio, TX and the surrounding areas that have been diagnosed with the neurological Sleep Disorder known as Narcolepsy. Family members and/or support persons are also welcome.Our aim is to educate, to advocate, and to support. The group, which is patient-led, will hold regular education/support meetings for members and families with presentations and discussions on topics that members want to see. Each meeting will include some social time as well. We will also examine any opportunities that we might have to increase public awareness of Narcolepsy.One key to our success will be member involvement -- input about the topics that are relevant to you. Members with talent or resources in any of these subject areas are encouraged to share their expertise and experience with the group.Members of this Meetup are encouraged (but not required) to join the Narcolepsy Network, a national non-profit patient support organization founded in 1985.
