Hello and Salutations..
I am new to this site. So I will apologize, in advance, for errors in spelling and misuse of the English language. ...

While using my new PC, I see that there still are no local support groups for Narcolepsy in southern Florida (Miami-Dade, Broward, etc.) I have been checking around for a local support group. There is none.

I was advised that TALK ABOUT SLEEP was a good forum board TO CHECK OUT.
A year or so ago - I had been reading (and posting) to a great web site with a nice group of people. It has since been disbanded.

I was happy to see the people here - with Narcolepsy and other sleep problems - conversing with familiar subjects and similar problems. I was pleasantly surprised to see (read) that folks are still comparing notes from all over. It is "human nature at it's best" to see folks trying to console and aid other sufferers. (did I spell all that ok?)

I could only read "so much" for tonight.. but I can see I would like to read more..

At least I see that early diagnosing is happening. I think testing children for apnea and Narcolepsy will prevent doctors from hastily diagnosing them as having ADD and then prescribing incorrect drugs and doses...etc.
For example: There are NUMEROUS ADD public support groups here...listed in local newspapers, etc. but they NEVER found enough children (or adults) to make a local support group for Narcolepsy? Very strange.

It would be so good to meet, discuss and compare thoughts on another level. This type of support appears in other cities.. and this is the reason I named this TOPIC ..as I did.

I should have placed the posting here first. Oh well... I was sleepy

It was nice (and comforting) to read your stories..
and I am known as ...Kat

Did you ever find any support groups in South FL? I live in Delray Beach. My husband was just diagnosed in June and we could really use a group where he can get support and I could get help as well. It is difficult to understand this entire process and would love getting support from those in our area. Thanks for any input. You can email me at poohathart@earthlink.net.

I notice there haven't been any recent posts on this topic. I live near Jupiter and would welcome a support group in West Palm Beach or northern Palm Beach County. Jupiter Hospital has an AWAKE group, but I've never been to the meetings. Iamb not sure if there are any PWN in the group. There must not be too many PWN in this area judging by the difficulty I've had finding a doctor here.

I'm in this area... North Miami, to be exact.

Please to be letting me know if there is a support group or if you'd like help starting one! Smile

Has anyone had any luck with finding a support group for PWN in the Dade/Broward/PB areas? I live in the south Palm beach area and would very much like to start a support group if one hasn't already been established.
Please let me know if you're interested.
