| As in day and overnight? I am just curious because I just went through my 9th and it was the worst one yet. I've had 6 overnight and 3 daytime. This last one was so bad they sent me home without doing the daytime MSLT. New doctor, more studies. |

Let's see: first sleep evaluation about 1996, followed that morning and day w/a MSLT. Interesting that at this one they even collected a urine sample. I don't remember if they took a picture of me or not.
1998 another evaluation PSG at a different sleep lab, back to the original sleep lab for the titration.
2006 yet another sleep lab but manager was the scorer of my first evaluation and MLST and same sleep doctor, for a sleep evaluation and CPAP titration. Ended up needing 2 titrations becuase for some strange reason I only slept 42 minutes out of 6 hours the first and 98 minutes out of 6 hours the second. *sigh*
2008 same sleep lab but a different sleep doctor, sleep evaluation w/and w/o 02, then a bi-level titration.
2008 different sleep lab, LOUSY sleep doctor, bi-level titration w/o 02
2010 back to sleep lab w/manager I knew for a bi-level titration, again a bad night for some reason, only slept one full sleep cycle and later another 20 minutes early in the morning.
So that is 4 sleep evaluations, 1 MSLT and 6 titrations. You would think that I would be pro at these titrations and sleep 8 full hours for crying out loud!!
I've never understood WHY I will sleep good or at least okay for one titration and absolutely lousy and insufficiently for others!!! Each lab but the second was clean, attractive, comfortable w/comfortable bed, pleasant staff .... the second bi-level titration at the now familiar lab I even slept in the same room and same bed!! Go figure. |

October 2003 In hospital EEG after collapsing . EEG tech observes Sleep apnea type behavior
November 2003 24 Ambulatory EEG confirms 'disrupted sleep arcitecture"
Dec. 2003 rule out study
Jan 2004# 1 titration cpap /bi-level on to Bi PAP 14/10
Febuary 2004 another 1 hour nap EEG
6/2004 2nd titration due to weight loss
April 2005 2 hour sleep deprived EEG " morning from hell"
May 2005 24 hour in hospital VEEG normal sleep with CPAP
May 2007 re titration "night from hell' did not sleep went with wife for her second rule out study.
August 2007 re do re titration with different tech slept well 14 cm CPAP 10 - 18 APAP. redone by sleep lab at no charge
December 2008 1 hour EEG normal.
Somewhere I have had 2 other additional EEG's done all being normal.
Good news /bad news ,the insurance co . will not authorize any more sleep studies
My APAP data shows 100% complianance within A H I of 6-8
The score at this time is... 5 ? or 8 1 hour EEG , 1 2 hour sleep deprived EEG, 1 24 hour Amb . EEG , 1 24 hour in hospital VEEG, 1 Rule out sleep study 4 titrations.
I am happy ,the Dr's seem to be... I have no intention of doing anymore titrations in a sleep lab, at home ....maybe |

since dx in 1989
I have had 3 two night studies (Polysomnogram)
and 8 titrations ( one night )
also have had 3 MSLT multiple sleep latency tests which are daytime studies that follow an over night PSG -

Hmmmm. The more I think about it .... do you suppose I could volunteer and become a "professional" PSG taker?
Sleep evaluations w/and w/o 02.
Titrations w/the various PSG equipment and software.
Yup, I like that idea and will do it for free except for expenses if I have to travel any great distance to the facility.
I'd love being a beta tester for new xPAPs!!! |

| Let's see: I'm pretty sure it is 4 evaluation PSGs, 6 titration PSGs and 1 MSLT. |

Just did a pulse ox overnight study along with my auto PAP download.
Everything was fine.
I did not want to go through a titration or the hassle with the insurance . |

| I've only had the one in 2003. I probably should go in for another this year, maybe. On Bipap ever since with oxygen at night. |

| Ya got me beat, DragonLady. I've been on CPAP and 02 since 2006 and switched to VPAP and 02 in 2008. I'm doing good, how 'bout you? |

Just checked the data on my S9 0 mask leak 0 AHI .
I told my dr. no on the titration ,I don't have time to argue with the insurance co, and I really do not want to go through another titration again. |

I have my ups and downs. I've other problems and have allergies to various things so it's hard to find medications I can use. Last year was test year in my mind. Trying to find a blood pressure med I wasn't allergic to..turns out it wasn't the medication, it was the 'fillers' the manufacturers were using! Finally found some that really, really work well and all Dec. and Jan. I've been feeling better and better and that of course means better sleep! I also had a change in Bipap machines as the old one was way too noisy and old. New one is much smaller and very quiet. It's a Respironics Bipap Auto. It's really small compared to my old one. |

| I most always use my Resmed S8 VPAP Auto but do have a PR SystemOne BPAP Auto as a backup PAP. I like it. I get good therapy w/it. I love the swivel hose attachment on the humidifier on the PR S1 - but I HATE the limited data available via the LCD screen. I do have the EncorePro software and use it but I prefer being able to take a quick glance at my nightly data via the LCD screen on my Resmed S8 despite I also have the ResScan software. |

17 sleep studies and 4 MSLT
8 were hospital routine and 6 were self investigation or second opinion and 3 were done at home
They got it wrong from a pressure of 18 - 11. Having RLS and not having it. 14 is my correct pressure but I do bounce around due to allergies. MSLT eventually proved I have Narcolepsy recently. Sleep Specialists need to know that it is important to test someone with OSA on CPAP therapy when having a MSLT.
Of those 17 10 or 9 were a waste because I only slept 2 hours. I could not sleep with those wires until I used ( wont say ). I had 4 sleep studies one year based on not enough data. I had 2 MSLT without CPAP and 2 with. The reason why the second MSLT with CPAP was done was insurance for Sleep Specialist.( a small story not worth mentioning ) All these studies were done well over a 7 year period and because I wanted a second opinion. Sometimes I felt the sleep tech had gone home and the cleaner was left to make do. Sleep medicine can be very unprofessional at times.
Home studies were a flop except for one. Fun and games. Don't ask me did they test me with a Bi PAP or VPAP. They should have when I read your comments about them. |
