Hi WildBill,
PLMD is Periodic Limb Movement Disorder (PLMD) is a disorder involving the motor neurons that results in repetitive leg jerks during sleep.
The PLM index measures the number of events per hour of sleep. Mild-between 5 and 25 events per hour Moderate -between 25 and 50 events per hour and Severe - greater than 50 events per hour.
The PLM arousal-index measures the number of arousals resulting from limb movements. Greater than 25 arousals per hour is considered severe.
Hope this helps!

L-Dopa = Sinemet
I used to work in mental health and am familiar with the benzodiazapines and the anti-parkinson's drugs. Trouble is that I'm also familiar with the side effects. It was a while before I could come at taking clonazapam. At least it gives me a reasonable nights sleep but I'm concerned about developing dependence on it, either physical or psychological.
My doctor wants me to try sinemet and I'd be grateful for any input as to its effectiveness as the side-effects are not nice.

Hello - I have PLMD and have been prescribed Permax. I would be grateful to learn what you know about the side effects of this medicine and the anti-parkinsons medications in general.
Thanks,
Andrew
