Did you see this in that information....QC?

Most FMS patients exhibit an associated alpha-EEG anomaly sleep disorder. Studies show that most FMS patients can fall asleep without much trouble, but that their deep level (stage 4) sleep was constantly interrupted by bursts of alpha wave activity. Patients report that they awake feeling as if they have had little to no sleep.

Did you have bursts of alpha wave?

FIBROMYALGIA AND CHRONIC FATIGUE SYNDROME

DESCRIPTION

Fibromyalgia pain is described as deep aching, radiating, gnawing, shooting or burning. The overwhelming characteristic of fibromyalgia is long-standing pain at defined tender points (myofascial trigger points).

Ninety percent of fibromyalgia sufferers also are afflicted with chronic fatigue syndrome. In addition to pain and fatigue, common symptoms include malaise, headaches, numbness and tingling, dizziness, sleep disturbance, swollen feeling in tissues, stiffness, sensitivity to noise and stress, and cognitive impairmenthttp://www.erinelster.com/fibromyalgia.html

Evidence supports that trauma (in particular mild concussive injury to the head, neck or upper back) precedes the onset of sleep disorders, such as insomnia, hypersomnia, sleep apnea, and narcolepsy, in certain cases.1-16 Following the trauma, sleep disorders can be triggered immediately or can take months or years to develop.http://www.erinelster.com/sleep_disorders.html

Hope I am able to help someone.

IMPORTANT:

NO DOCTOR IS GOING TO HELP YOU FIND THIS OUT. ONE YEAR AGO THERE WERE ONLY FOUR MACHINES LIKE THIS IN USA. IT IS GROUNDBREAKING TECHNOLOGY, LONG WAITING LISTS AND YOU PROBARBLY WILL HAVE TO PAY FOR THE TEST YOURSELF.

I waited a year, and I was diagnosed in june (check the dates on these messages, and you will see.) I have damaged ligaments in the 2. cervical vertebrae, a serious damage that have caused hypersomnia, pain in head and back, inflammations in the chest (coughing, stuffed nose), hormone-problems, to name a few- for 15 yrs (since I was nine)

No doctor have helped me. I have printed out the pages from the internet, and DEMANDED that they helped me. Then you show them that you take your health seriously, and that you want the best medical help possible today.

Good luck. Hope I helped. Queen Citrus.

My husband has been diagnose with F. He had whiplash after a car wreck as a teenager. He is currently trying to get help. He is in so much pain since last week. Flared up. Can't get a doc to help. Says take advil. Others say there is nothing they can do. Its terrible to see a grown man cry especially one who rarely does. What meds do most of you take for F?

PostPosted: May 15 2005    Post subject: connection between fibro and head trauma Reply with quote

I concur with the evidence re head trauma and fibro.

My fibro started after a car accident (I was run into at a stoplight by a yahoo in a ferrari). I suffered a concussion, and thoracic and cervical damage (herniated discs). However, it took a few months for the symptoms develop, during which someone close to me died of a horrendous disease. I was also working 65 hours a week as this was happening.... thinking I was "toughing it out." Then one day I went to work and I couldn't read my computer screen. I couldn't sit down for longer than 10 minutes, but I was in so much pain I could hardly walk.

I had already settled my car accident claim for less than my medical bills (ironic because I work in personal injury) only because I was so exhausted I could not make sense of the situation.

I do believe the head trauma was the ultimate "trigger" that made all the other stress and underlying symptoms come to the surface. My hope is that this line of research is continued until there is enough hard medical evidence that the connection is real, and that fibro sufferers are not whiny hypochondriacs. (Most people who develop the disease are working women in the prime of their lives who work long hours and are physically and mentally active.)

PostPosted: August 09 2005    Post subject: FMS Reply with quote

I have FMS (Fibromyalgia) and have had it for 15 years. I cannot fall asleep AT ALL without drugs, so when they say most FMS patients can fall asleep w/o any trouble that is a crock. My FMS started after a head and neck trauma. I now have four sleep disorders rolled into one big monster: Severe chronic insomnia, DSPS (Delayed Sleep Phase Syndrome) regardless of sleep/drugs, Bruxism (nighttime teeth grinding), and Stage 4 sleep disorder even when I do fall asleep (which I now cannot without lots of drugs); I seem to skip Stage 4.

PostPosted: September 02 2005    Post subject: Has anyone tried Xyrem? Reply with quote

Xyrem is the latest drug of choice with fibromyalgia patients who have alpha intrusion. It has saved me from a terrible life of pain and fatigue.

I still have some fibromyalgia symptoms, but they are much better since I've been taking Xyrem. It took about 6 weeks to work for me, but once it did I've been so much better.
