4 weeks on cpap, and half a week ago, I began having these purely nonsense dreams that scare the heck out of me. I have had maybe 10 dreams in 20 years, and now I have had 30 dreams in 5 days. I don't like them. I miss the months of no dreams.

My wife says it is normal and that she has them all the time. She almost finds it a bit humorous that I wake her to tell her about something she experiences almost every night.

Did any of you have a hard time adjusting to dreams when you began to really hit REM sleep on CPAP? I am not crazy am I?

Thanks
Phillip

Please allow me to assure you that you are not crazy.
I am guessing here, but I think you don't remember your dreams prior to using CPAP therapy for one of two reasons: 1) you never slept long enough to progress into REM sleep due to excessive apnea causing you to wake up, or 2) you did not wake up immediately after the dreams prior to using CPAP therapy, causing you to not remember those dreams. Usually, for apneic patients, reason #1 is the cause, and reason #2 is for heavy/sound sleepers. In order for a person to remember what they dreamed, it is necessary for them to wake up immediately after the dream. Some folks just stretch or roll over, and others get up to go to the restroom.
Sounds like you may fit reason #1 here, but like I said, I'm guessing. So good luck and RELAX!! Dreaming is a good thing as long as the dreams themselves are not disturbing.

I have a note book next to my bed for dreams. I'm an artist and I have got some awesome ideas through my dreams. I'm usually walking at a craft show or antique show. I have also solved daytime problems in my dreams. I look at it as an adventure. My subconscious is helping work through day time issues. Sweet dreams Judy
