About my son

My son is 17 years old and have problem getting up in the morning. He had this problem for the last four years. He has missed a lot of school, lost a job and may loose the one he has now. School has filed truancy charges several times. He will be a senior this year and if he doesn't get the treatment he will not graduate next year.

I have tried all kinds of medications, light therapy etc. He has trouble going to sleep at night. Sometimes he stays in bed till 3 or 4 in the morning. In the morning he just cannot wake up. I have bought the loudest alarm clock in the market and he just sleeps thru it. He gets nasty when I push hard to wake him up. He is just a different person in the morning and doesn't remember what he said or did when I was trying to wake him up.

I am a single parent and all of this is getting to me. I don't know what to do. Any help or suggestion will be greatly appreciated.

I had the same problems in high school (I am 19 now) and it turned out to be a major sleep disorder (Klein-Levin Syndrome plus alpha-delta disorder in my case) - I would suggest you visit a sleep center and they might suggest a sleep study.
