C - Cataplexy
EDS - Excessive Daytime Sleepiness
pwn - person with narcolepsy
pwon - person without narcolepsy
HH - hypnogogic hallucinations or hypnopompic hallucinations
SP - sleep paralysis
AB - automatic behavior
MSLT - Multiple Sleep Latency Test (tests for narcolepsy measuring how quickly you reach REM sleep when napping)
Dx'd - diagnosed
NN or Narnet - Narcolepsy Network, a 501 c-3 non profit organization
TAS - Talk About Sleep

We also have 'lurkers.' Lurkers can be people who read the posts, but never post anything themselves. But a lurker can also refer to that mysterious, usually evil entity we meet up with during an HH. As in a 'lurker' attempted to break into our house, or a 'lurker' was in my bedroom, when in fact it's just part of the hallucination.

Okay, that's all I can come up with off the top of my sleepy head. Please add any that I failed to think of.

I'm trying not to use the acronyms anymore. I realized that the main reason I found this website was because I googled a few phrases such as "Narcolepsy", "Diagnose", and "Cataplexy." Google (and probably other search engines) will pop up with search results that include our posts in the message boards. There are a lot of people out there that do not know about this site and by using the acronyms it limits the search engines ability to include so much information that we have here. Many of the words we abbreviate with acronyms are the very words people are searching for. The more people that find the information they are looking for through Google, the more people will come to this site, register, find the help they need, and become contributors to the forums.

redbadge- that is an excellent point! In doing my research for symptoms, my own darn post popped up first, lol! At first I kind of thought it was a little bit of an invasion of privacy, but then I realized how deperate for answers I have been to find info for my son. If any of your contributions can help just one person, it is so worth it. That's very thoughtful of you!

Some of these acronyms are unnecessary. I do not see how they help the site. I refer to my previous post. Please take the time to type out your phrase for the benefit of search engines, new visitors, and for those of us with A.I.S.
AIS= acronym intolerance syndrome. What? You didn't already know that?
