I went to my doctor the other day becuase I was having a panic attack. I used to take ativans for axiety and it really helped. I have been on cymbalta for at least two years and also take provigil. While I was at the doctor's office my doctor mumbled something about cymbalta possibly delaying rem sleep....anybody ever heard of this? Wouldn't this be bad for someone who has hypersomnia then? MY identical twin sister took a sleep test while she was taking cymbalta and some other antidepressant and they said that she did not go into rem sleep for 5 hours!!!! She is not on provigil...she sleeps at least 14 hours every day but has no sleep attacks during the day like i do. I try to tell her she should go on provigil all the time. She has way more symptoms of being bipolar than i do as well. It is likely we both have CPTSD from being sexually abused as children. We both excelled in school--we both graduated 2nd out a class of 250 students. my sister is curently in school and i recently dropped out of my master's degree program in mental health counseling because the smallest stressor seems like something crashing down to kill me. Anyways, anyone know anything about people with hypersomnia being on cymbalta and if this could actually be bad because it delays rem sleep. Please help.
Thanks,
Tracy |

I am currently on cymbalta, I take it at night because it can make you sleepy. I have been on it for a while now, and overall I think it helps.
I have not heard about it delaying REM sleep though. Though it is a possiblity.
I am going for a sleep study this week so it will be interesting to see how quickly I fall asleep and if I have REM at night.
