I'm trying to gain some insight to a condition my wife has, that has effected her ever since childhood, but no doctors can find anything.

Every so often (once to maybe 10 times a year) my wife will have these episodes in her sleep. She usually starts out with just a couple odd sounding breaths, maybe a slight grunting breath. Then she will begin to move around in bed, pushing kind of like shes trying to get away from something. She is TOTALLY INCOHERANT, she seems to hear me talking to her, but cannot respond, and looks right through me, sometimes her eyes are open , sometimes closed. She doesnt seem to be having a seizure, but its similar. is can last seconds or several minutes. She has no idea of what shes doing she rolled over on our child who was sleeping with us one time, and i had to literally throw her off. When the episode subsides, shes usually semi awake and vaguely responds to me. She will Immediately drift off to sleep, and if I wake her 5 minutes later, shes fine, but has NO memory of the things shes done. Shes not really a threat to anyone while shes like this, it just scares the hell out of me... the first time it ever happened, we had been living together about a month , and I was totally freaked out. We have been married for 8 years now, and they are still happening , but very seldom. Her mother has said she had done it since she was about 3 years old. She seemed to have more while she was pregnant, and possibly near her period. Maybe chemical imbalance? Just looking for some ideas, as the doctors have done CAT scans and all sort of brain wave scans and never found a thing. Thanks for any info ......... Question

I'm a PWN but no C, just HH and EDS. I also don't believe I have SP, sleep paralysis. I've always acted out my dreams (ie grabbing husband's nose), done a lot of sleepwalking and sleeptalking, as did my father and grandfather and many of my siblings. I don't think this is anything my husband has ever complained about with me.

But.......why not check out info on sleep paralysis, REM behavior disorders?

It might be a good idea to try and catch one of these episodes on video to show to a dr. They may need a little help in dx'ing the problem.

Good luck, Goodhuzband!
