My neurologist/sleep doctor reviewed my sleep study results with me and said that I was borderline excessively tired and should keep taking my ProVigil. I don't remember him mentioning anything about not spending enough time in Stage 4 sleep.

My psychologist reviewed the results and pointed out that it says "1.8% in stages 3 and 4". She went on to point out that she couldn't find evidence of me going into stage 4 at all, anywhere on the report. I did a little research online and one should spend 20-30% of one's sleep in stages 3 &4.

I looked at the page where the graph was of my night study showing when and how long I was at each stage of sleep or wake. I could see that I dipped into stage 3 half a dozen times for what looked like 30 seconds or a minute each time. The line never dipped into the area labeled 4.

I'm confused. I'm concerned. I see my psychiatrist who ordered the study, in one week. Maybe she can shed some light on this. If it is true that I don't spend hardly any time in stage 3 and no time in stage 4, then that might explain my susceptibility to lyme disease and difficulty in recovering from it.

because this forum is often not very active, I'm posting this same topic in under another sleep disorder topic.

Any word on why no Stage 4? I don't go into it at all and only spend 9% of my sleep in 3. It's funny that my sleep docs never seemed to tell me that was an issue. I think it's the main issue. LOL
