I feel like I have tried about every "daytime" med. I am done with Provigil and Nuvigil, they work for a bit and just stop. Dextroamphetamine and Adderall still work but its just like musical medicine back and forth because I am getting so used to them. I was wondering what people can tell me about them? Is it in the ritalin family? Is there anyone that couldn't take ritalin but could take vyvanse? I can't take ritalin, tried both the instant and time released, I got all weepy over weird stuff and the time released caused awful leg pain. The leg pain was so bad I had to crawl around my house. Any info or help that y'all could provide would be awesome! |

Hello,
I take vyvanse. I believe it IS in the Ritalin family but it affects me very differently. I can't remember all of the details but it does have less of an active ingredient per mg than Ritalin so you may have to take a higher dose. The biggest benefit to it is how "smooth" it is. You don't feel it ramping up and no "crashes". I didnt have a bad experience with Ritalin but it didn't last long enough for me and I hated the feeling of going up and down on it. I'm happy with vyvanse and haven't built up a tolerance to it. Been on it over a year now.
Good luck! |

| I'd love a Vyvance update since I'm thinking of trying it next time I go to my doctor. Did it continue to work for you, Ayukanin? Did you try it Punkgurlly? Has anyone else tried it who has more results to share? Thanks. |

I am taking it.
Vyvanse is my favorite medicine so far. Everything else either stopped working too quickly, or gave me too many side effects. It really is much "smoother" than a lot of the other stuff I had tried, and it hasn't given me any problems with racing heartbeat or raised blood pressure. Plus I don't have to remember to take more than one dose.
The negative part for me is that I do develop tolerance to it, but not as quickly as I did to other medicines. I can take vyvanse for several months before it starts to "fade" on me, and when it does, I switch to another medicine for 3 months to try to "reset" the tolerance level. I was afraid it wouldn't work when I tried the 2nd time (some of my other meds didn't... they helped the first time, but the tolerance never seemed to go away), but it did. I can feel it fading again, so I will have to go off it again in about a month, but it is by far the most effective medicine I have tried.
Obviously I am only speaking for myself... different people react differently to things, so it may not be what someone else needs, but for me, it has been very helpful. |

McLinda- Thanks for sharing your Vyvance experience. I'm going to request it next time I visit my doctor. I too rotate through different ones and take breaks when I can/need to because I become immune to all of them. I'm grateful at least stimulants work for a while- it's a lot better than nothing, that's for sure.
Glad to hear Vyvance has a longer "runway" for you (quoting myself- I named it that while talking to my doctor) I only recently heard about it. Is it relatively new? |
