Are there any groups of people that suffer from sleep disabilities that meet in the Chicago area? Just wondering. I haven't been able to find any active groups over the internet other than this message board.

Which sleep disorder(s) do you have? I know of people to contact who would know the answer depending on your sleep disorder.

I have hypersomnia (as of right now that is my diagnosis) although I am scheduled to have another sleep study done- I have never had the MSLT done to rule out narcolepsy....

For Narcolepsy and Hypersomnia, check out the NAPS web site throuh UIC. They meet a few times a year. Additionally, I'd call the Narcolepsy Network. They keep a running list of support groups in the US and can give you updated information on this area.

Hi! Sorry I know that this is incredibly old news- but I was wondering if anything got started on a regular basis. Although I am from NE chicago seems like the closest place with a support group. I could really use the help- I have hypersomnia (first diagnosed with narcolepsy) and am currently taking a medical leave of absence from a graduate program I worked extremely hard to get into. I could use any type of help at all, so please let me know!

As far as I can find UIC seems to be the only place with anything at all...did you check out their site for some group info?? I think the group there is still on-going....
