ResMed, a leading manufacturer and developer of products for the diagnosis, treatment, and management of sleep-disordered breathing (SDB), announces the release of the VPAP® III ST-A bilevel device.
The ResMed VPAP III ST-A is designed for patients with respiratory insufficiencies and offers unprecedented versatility for effective noninvasive ventilation (NIV) therapy. It combines the exclusive features of the VPAP III series with adjustable breath trigger and cycle thresholds, as well as a full range of user-friendly alarms for both the clinician and patient. The VPAP III ST -A also features an optional, fully integrated humidifier for optimal patient comfort.
The VPAP III ST-A is an extremely versatile hospital-to-home, noninvasive ventilator due to its expanded pressure range and dynamic breath delivery settings combined with the Vsync™ automated leak compensation algorithm," says Vance Wilson, senior product manager. "Noninvasive ventilation treats a wide variety of unique and challenging lung, chest wall, and airway conditions. Clinicians and patients will find the VPAP III ST-A meets every noninvasive therapy challenge like no other."
Its comprehensive, integral suite of alarms allows clinicians to assess therapy adequacy with ease. The new and improved alarms include Power Fail, Over Pressure, Over Use, Fault, Low Pressure, High Pressure, Low Minute Ventilation, as well as a new Nonvented circuit alarm that alerts in response to nonvented mask connection issues. The VPAP III ST-A also features a dynamic pressure range of 3-30 cm H2O.
A range of data can be viewed in real time on the VPAP III ST-A's LCD screen, including real-time therapy screens for instant clinical insights, real-time oxygen saturation readings, and real-time heart rate data when ResLink™ is attached. The new "QuickView" key allows clinicians to - at the touch of a button - assess the impact of changing settings without leaving the settings menu. For a closer look at treatment effectiveness and usage, clinicians can access the five-night profile or summary statistics for 365 nights.
The portable ResLink module clips onto the flow generator and provides extremely detailed data that can be readily viewed and analyzed via ResMed's data analysis software. That analysis will show up to 30 nights of detailed (breath-to-breath) data, which includes minute ventilation, leak, tidal volume, respiratory rate, and SpO 2 and pulse rate using an optional pulse oximeter.
Also, VPAP III series modules can be interchanged with those of ResMed's latest CPAP and APAP products, optimizing inventory management. Their common menu structures also simplify product training.
