The Board of Polysomnographic Technologists (BRPT) has just
announced the dates the new, computer-based exam to become credentialed as a
Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) will be given during 2006.
The four testing periods will be:
March 27-April 8, 2006
June 26- July 8, 2006
September 18-29, 2006
December 4-19, 2006
The 2006 Candidate Handbook with application forms and details about
eligibility and procedures will be available for downloading at no cost from
the brpt.org web site on January 3, 2006.
More information about the new computer-based exam is available at brpt.org
now. In addition, on the web site, candidates may sign up to receive email
updates and view a list of exam sites.
"The move to computer-based testing and partnering with Pearson VUE, one of
the leading electronic testing companies in the world, offers many benefits
to candidates," explained Bobby Stanley, BRPT Executive Director. Stanley
noted that there will be many more dates and times to take the exam and more
testing sites, both in the U.S. and internationally. Enhanced security and
faster turnaround time for scoring the exam are among other benefits, he
said.
Those eligible to take the examination include professionals with 18 months
of paid clinical experience in polysomnography, credentialed professionals
with 6 months of paid clinical experience in polysomnography from a
BRPT-accepted health-related field such as nursing, respiratory care and
electroneurodiagnostics, or graduates of programs with special recognition
in polysomnography, as accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of
Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP).
The RPSGT is respected worldwide as the leading credential for
polysomnographic technologists. The Board of Registered Polysomnographic
Technologists (BRPT) is an independent, nonprofit certification board that
cultivates the highest professional and ethical standards for
polysomnographic technologists by providing an internationally recognized
credential - the Registered Polysomnographic Technologist. A growing
certificant base includes RPSGTs in the United States, Canada, China, Japan
and Australia. For more information, call (703) 610-9020, or visit
www.brpt.org.
