Participants Needed for Fibromyalgia Study

Fullerton, CA - January 1, 2006

The National Fibromyalgia Association and Cal State Fullerton are looking for participants for a research study to determine the effects of a combination of topical oils on the ability of women with fibromyalgia to participate in a 12-week exercise program from February 18 to May 6, 2006.

To qualify for the study a woman must:

  1. Be between 25 and 79 years of age.
  2. Be diagnosed by a qualified physician to have fibromyalgia as defined by the American College of Rheumatology
  3. NOT currently exercise 3 times/week for 30 minutes or more.
  4. NOT have a diagnosis of psychosis, bipolar disorder, or schizoaffective disorder
  5. NOT have severe pain from osteoarthritis, bursitis, plantar fascitis,  tendonitis or other condition that would interfere with participating in the exercise program.
  6. NOT have a diagnosis of inflammatory arthritis or an autoimmune disease, such as rheumatoid arthritis or lupus

Research Sites will be at two locations:

  1. Center for Successful Aging at California State University, Fullerton
  2. South Orange County (location to be determine)
