"Living with Fibromyalgia" provides its viewers with a candid and forthright glimpse into the lives of a unique group of people with fibromyalgia. The film's narrator, Daneen Akers, explores the needs of these patients in order to better understand how she can help and support her own mother who suffers with the disease.
The desperation one feels when "living with fibromyalgia", goes far beyond the physical anguish of constant body pain and immobilizing exhaustion. The emotional pain and frustration caused by dismissive health care providers, less than sympathetic friends, and the expressions of frustration by family members can lead a person with fibromyalgia to the depths of despair and self doubt.
The documentary "Living with Fibromyalgia" shares and explains the fibromyalgia experience from the view point of a diverse group of people living with the chronic illness. The candid stories shared by each of these fibromyalgia survivors, enlightens the film's narrator, who comes to better understand this complicated disease and discovers what she, as the daughter of a fibromyalgia patient, can do to help her mother believe in, encourage, and continue to provide hope for the future.
