ResMed today introduced the Swift™ LT for Her, the first mask specially designed for the 85% of women who feel that, as women, they have special needs in mask choice.
A recent poll of CPAP users conducted independently on the popular patient website TalkAboutSleep.com found that 90% of women believe manufacturers should be more considerate of women's needs in mask development. 85% of female respondents said they had special needs in mask choice and fit, and over 70% said they had mask fit problems. Additionally, 30% of poll respondents said their mask headgear pulled their hair or interfered with their hairstyle.
ResMed is the first and only manufacturer to respond to the market need by customizing their high-performance nasal pillows technology with personalized features for women's unique preferences.
“ResMed strives to create exceptional products that maximize compliance by incorporating customer and patient feedback into product development,” stated Jennifer Baum , Product Manager for Patient Interfaces. “We recognized that female sleep apnea patients have unique needs and preferences in mask choice. The Swift LT for Her fulfills the need for a comfortable, high-performance nasal pillows system specially designed for women.”
The Swift™ LT for Her incorporates the revolutionary design of the market-leading Swift LT with specialized features for women. With no forehead support and weighing only 2.3 oz (67 g), the Swift LT for Her seals softly and securely to ensure a comfortable night's sleep. It also features an adjustable backstrap that can be worn over or under the hair to accommodate a wide range of hairstyles in a stylish, soft, feminine print and light blue color.
According to the TalkAboutSleep poll, more than 25% of respondents said that their mask was too large. The Swift LT for Her features a new Extra Small pillow to extend the fit range for more petite noses. The mask frame width is 50% smaller, making it perfect for side sleeping, and the rotating barrel allows her to customize her best fit. In addition, the simple design makes it easy to fit and clean. The quietest nasal pillows system on the market, the Swift LT for Her offers a minimal, unobtrusive nasal pillows system that lets a female patient feel more like herself.
“As a passionate advocate for CPAP patients, I applaud ResMed's focus on the needs of female patients,” commented Tracy Nasca, Founder and Senior Vice President of TalkAboutSleep.com. “By investing in developing new features that are important to women, ResMed is providing support to patients and clinicians who are committed to patient compliance.”
