I'm a 27 year old single female that was diagnosed with severe sleep apnea about 2 years ago. When I went in for the overnight fitting for my CPAP I was horrified to see the options. Thank goodness I didn't need the chin strap, nor the mask that covered my mouth. I've been using nasal pillows and was ready for a new mask.
My homecare company suggested the Swift LT for Her. When she brought out the new mask, I couldn't believe my eyes! The first thing I saw were the colors, thank God! I hate the dark drab colors of my old one. These new colors were so light and girl friendly, I loved it. Then she removed it from the bag, wait, it's that small, really? The size reduction compared to the current one I was using was amazing! She went over the features of the “Her” mask for me. I was excited!
Last night was my first night using the new mask, and the minute I woke up I had to share my experience! I went to sleep for the first time in over a year not feeling I was ugly while I slept. When my boyfriend looked at me with my new mask on I didn't feel bad or self conscious about this thing sitting on my face. The piece that sits in front of my nose was light and small. I could barely see it around the outside edges of my nose; I use the small pillows, so you know I don't have a big nose.
The twisting ability of the hose that comes out of the front was pure genius! I HATED, and I mean HATED taking my other one apart. It was such a pain! All those little pieces and being sure you put it back together so the hose was positioned the right direction in comparison to the machine…wow you have no idea what a pain that was to do on a regular basis. The little exhalation holes in the front are great. Now I have better control of when I blow air toward somebody in the face, or not. My cats say thank you.
I put the soft wraps on my mask last night for the first time and wow what a difference that made! I was already very impressed with the new mask, but I've gained an appreciation for how much better this new one works for me! I've been ridiculed for the lines on my cheeks, all in jest of course, however to be in public and have those lines on my face was so embarrassing. Now with the soft wraps on my new mask, I don't have to worry about that anymore! I woke up and there wasn't a line on my face!
I could go on and on about the wonderful things this new mask has, but I won't. I think some of the most valued changes are mentioned. I can't thank ResMed enough for the wonderful new mask! Being a single 27 year old CPAP user just became so much easier for me!
Thanks ResMed, from the bottom of my heart!
