ResMed, a manufacturer and developer of products for the treatment of sleep-disordered breathing, has announced its new SleepTrack™ program, which uses advanced new technology to combine compliance data with efficacy and leak data. It is currently the only software that is able to report whether a patient is being effectively treated.
The program involves two components: technology and education. First, a patient takes home ResMed's AutoSet® T, an auto-titration system, which records critical data such as mask leakage, dates and hours used and the apnea/hypopnea index. After a few days or weeks, as determined by the doctor, the patient returns to the sleep lab, and the data is transmitted directly from the AutoSet T to the doctor's computer where each component is broken down. This is done through ResMed's proprietary AutoScan™ software.
"The SleepTrack program allows doctors to get a detailed picture of how the patient is complying and how effectively the treatment is working," said Peter Farrell, Ph.D., chairman and CEO of ResMed.
The second component is education. ResMed uses clinical specialists to present the SleepTrack program to providers of Durable Medical Equipment (DME's) and doctors who choose to participate, making sure they are able to fully understand the technology to maximize impact.
ResMed is a leading developer, manufacturer, and marketer of medical equipment for the diagnosis and treatment of sleep-disordered breathing, selling a comprehensive range of products in over 50 countries. Most sleep apnea patients will recognize ResMed as the manufacturer of the Sullivan line of CPAP equipment, as well as the Mirage and Ultra Mirage masks.
