Finding a Sleep Doctor or a Sleep Center can be one of the most important steps in resolving your sleep difficulties.
The American Board of Sleep Medicine is the medical board that certifies sleep physicians and researchers as "Board Certified" in Sleep Medicine. They maintain a searchable list of Board Certified Sleep Specialists by name. There are approximately 1500 Diplomates of the Board of Sleep Medicine, which has been in existence since 1978.
An International Directory of Sleep Researchers and Clinicians
The American Academy of Sleep Medicine is a professional organization for sleep physicians and sleep centers/labs. They are also the recognized accreditation body for the voluntary accreditation of Sleep Centers and Labs.
The AASM maintains a list of accredited Sleep Centers and Labs who have also chosen to join the AASM as member centers. This same list also provides the names of sleep physicians affiliated with these accredited centers.
Please remember that not all sleep centers or labs have undergone this accreditation process, and not all accredited centers are members of the AASM, so that this list is not an all-inclusive listing.
Dentists interested in treating sleep disorders with oral appliances are often members of the Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine (formerly the Sleep Disorders Dental Society). The ADSM maintains an informational web site that includes a searchable directory of sleep dentists.
Quietsleep.com
Quietsleep.com was developed to provide information on dentistry's role in the recognition and management of snoring and obstructive sleep apnea. It is our hope that this site will become a resource not only for those suffering from problems associated with snoring and sleep apnea but for dentists interested in treating patients with oral appliance therapy and dental laboratories who construct those appliances.
Quietsleep.com provides a way to find a dentist who provides this innovative form of therapy, a way for both professionals and the public to rank their experiences with various appliances and a community where the public, dentists and dental laboratories can interact openly.
