ResMed's SULLIVAN VPAP II (Variable Positive Airway Pressure) delivers ultra-quiet, comfortable bilevel pressure therapy. With smooth pressure transition and a range of operating modes, the VPAP II series is suitable for a range of patients with sleep disordered breathing.
Added features, such as adjustable maximum and minimum IPAP (Inspiratory Positive Airway Pressure) time, adjustable rise time, and a delay time, help ensure that each patient's therapy is comfortable as well as effective.
Recent studies show that all patients on bilevel therapy experience mouth leaks. Mouth leaks interfere with a bilevel device's triggering sensitivity. The result is poor synchronization between the patient's spontaneous breathing pattern and the machine breath timing. This poor synchronization forces patients to exhale against a high inspiratory pressure, which increases work of breathing and can cause fragmented sleep, muscle fatigue, and reduced compliance.
Maximum IPAP Time (IPAP Max), an important feature of ResMed's bilevel devices, counteracts the negative effects of mouth leaks and resultant synchronization problems between patient and machine breaths. IPAP Max allows the clinician to adjust the device's respiratory cycle to closely mimic the patient's spontaneous breathing patterns.
IPAP Min allows clinicians to adjust the minimum inspiratory time to prevent premature triggering to EPAP and allow more consistent delivery of tidal and minute volumes.
Each model in the VPAP II series is designed for ease of use by clinicians and patients. A backlit LCD displays patient parameters and allows the clinician to change all therapy settings quickly and easily without an external unit. Built-in security features ensure patients cannot change their therapy settings.
Patient compliance is the key to ensuring successful therapy. VPAP II series devices track compliance by recording the number of mask-on hours by the presence of mask pressure. This data can be downloaded directly or via modem.
Small - only 142mm high x 240mm wide x 350mm long (5.6" x 9.5" x 13.8") - and compact, the VPAP II will sit unobtrusively by the patient's bed. It's also light - only 3.4kg (7.5lb) - and has a convenient carry handle. Altitude compensation and international power supply means VPAP II can be used almost anywhere in the world without any adjustment. So patients will never have to go without therapy or restrict their lifestyles.
